Smoke in the Mountains is a CBA sanctioned State Championship cook off.

The entry fee is $250 (for chicken, ribs and brisket) + jackpots.

Important Information for Cooks

Jackpot Rules

For all Jackpots, provide enough for 6 judges.

Dessert

Dessert must be made on site. Dessert can be turned in any way you want, get creative! It does not have to go in the styrofoam box that you are given. If you are going to use a Dutch oven, the coals must be kept 12 inches off the ground. No ground fires allowed. 

 

Margaritas

Same as dessert, anything goes, does not have to go in the styrofoam cup.

 

Cabrito

Anything goes, you can turn in any way you like, but it has to go in the styrofoam box that is provided. 

 

Ribeye

Garnish is allowed, but it must be turned in using the styrofoam box that is provided. 

 

Salsa

Anything goes, must be turned in using the styrofoam cup that is provided. 

 

Jr. and Sr. Pitmasters

Junior and Senior pitmasters are tasked with making a burger. Junior Pitmasters are ages 5-11, Senior Pitmasters are ages 12-18. The burger should be turned in using the styrofoam box provided. Do not turn in anything extra (french fries, chips, etc.).

Fees

$25 each - Senior Pitmaster (ages 12-18), Junior Pitmaster (ages 5-11), Margaritas, Salsa, Dessert

$50 each - Cabrito, Ribeye

$250 - Chicken, Ribs and Brisket ($250 for all 3)

Registration

Registration for this event is 100% online. All fees must be paid by June 1. There will be no registration table at the cookoff. If you do not pay at the time that you register, you will receive an invoice by e-mail a week prior to June 1. 

Parking

Due to limited space, any teams who are competing as jackpot only will need to setup camp across the street near the Bank. The rear Bank parking lot will also be available for parking Friday after 6:30 PM.

Teams can start parking after 5 PM on Thursday. All teams should enter through West Sixth street and then left on North Fort Street to line up. There will be volunteers assisting with parking. Teams will be assigned a parking spot as they arrive. Our volunteers do their best to accommodate parking requests, but we have to make the best use of our limited space, please be kind! Spot reservations will not be allowed. Please show up together if you want to park together. No vehicles should be left around the courthouse. You must drop your trailer off and move your vehicle. Parking will be available at the Methodist Church or Baptist Church parking lots. Additional parking for camp sites is available across the street near the Bank. Volunteers will be readily available to assist.

If you are arriving on Friday, there will be additional parking space across the street near the Bank. Please make sure you are only using designated spaces. The spaces closest to the Bank are reserved for customers since the Bank is still open for business on Friday. 

Trash

Each team is responsible for picking up their trash and keeping their camps clean. There will be designated barrels for ashes and grease. Please do not dump ashes or grease on the ground. There should be absolutely no trash or BBQ pits on the courthouse lawn.

Tray Pick Up

Cooks can pick up their trays on Friday after 2 PM at the fire station. 

Ground Fires

Absolutely no ground fires are allowed. Dutch oven coals must be kept 12 inches off the ground. 

Thursday Night Dinner

Smoke in the Mountains President, Jennifer Webster and her husband Joe Webster will be hosting a dinner at their home for all of the teams on Thursday night. This is an RSVP only event. More details will be sent via e-mail. 

Coffee, Burritos, Bloody Mary's

Head to the bar on Saturday morning for complimentary coffee, mimosas and Bloody Mary's! Compliments of Smoke in the Mountains. Burritos will be available for purchase. Check your goody bags for vouchers!

Cook's Meeting

Be sure to attend the Cook's Meeting on Friday at 5:00 PM at the NW corner of the courthouse for important information. 

Awards

Bring your lawn chairs, grab some shade on the beautiful courthouse lawn, and wait to hear your song! Awards start at 6:30 PM on Saturday.
